Managing a Global Innovation Teams model

As part of the EU funded project Global Innovation Teams, our Consortium designed a model developing inclusive project-based and transversal skills-oriented internships. With this course, we aim at transferring to academics the skills and expertise acquired.

Learning Outcomes

  • To learn about the Global Innovation Teams model as an example of inclusive, client-based, and transversal skills oriented internship, and to gain understanding of the related benefits and challenges in different context
  • To acquire knowledge on what is innovation in an educational context and become familiar with inclusive techniques aimed at fostering innovation
  • To learn about the challenges of implementing an internship, identify related risk mitigation measures
  • To empathize and identify the needs and expectations of stakeholders involved in implementing an internship
  • To learn fundamental notions regarding mentorship and gain understanding of the role and responsibilities of an effective mentor

Who is this for?

This course is intended for all academic staff (teachers, administrative staff, consuling staff) involved in implementing internships and/or client based projects in Higher Education Institution and for professionals (from companies, voluntary groups, NGOs, research group, etc.) who are involved, or wish to be involved in the supervision/mentoring of interns in their institution.

Mode of delivery and Assessment

The course is intended to be modular, with four sessions that can be delivered all together or separately and a session dedicated to assessment.

All four sessions are designed for academic staff, while only the second two sessions are designed for industry professionals. Accordingly, Learning Outcomes are assessed depending on the profile of the participant and Learning Outcomes of the sessions.

Content of the course

The Global Innovation Teams model session aims at providing academic staff an overview of what it takes to implement inclusive, client-based, and transversal skills oriented internships in different contexts. The Fostering Innovation session aims at supporting academics in embedding techniques and activities for fostering innovation in an educational context taking into account the diversity of students and the complexities of co-production with industry.

The Understanding internship’s stakeholders through Co-Design session aims at providing a safe space for academics and professionals (from companies, voluntary groups, NGOs, research group, etc.) to network and develop a common understanding of that it takes to be involved in inclusive project-based and transversal skills-oriented internships.

The Being an effective mentor for interns session aims at providing a safe space for academics and professionals (from companies, voluntary groups, NGOs, research group, etc.) to network and develop a common understanding of what it means to be a mentor and how to collaborate to support students in their internships.
