The training week will start on Monday November 6th University College Dublin (UCD). Your UCD point of contact will be Eleanor Kelly, Head of Strategy and Partnerships at UCD Innovation Academy. Your TU Dublin point of contact will be Anna Becevel, European Research Manager at TU Dublin’s School of Computer Science.

UCD, a research intensive university ranked within the top 1% of universities worldwide, is located on 133 hectares of parkland campus in south Dublin. You can learn more about UCD here. During your time at UCD, your meetings will take place in two locations:
UCD Innovation Academy’s Shackleton Lounge, named after the famous Irish explorer Ernest Shackleton. The Shackleton Lounge is located in the O’Brien Centre for Science beside UCD’s lake – you will see it marked prominently on the map below. After you enter the Centre, please walk past the central spiral staircase. You will see a pop up sign for the Shackleton Lounge on the left hand side.
The Nova UCD innovation hub is located on the other side of UCD’s Belfield campus, approximately 10 minutes away from the Shackleton Lounge (marked on the map). On Monday, Eleanor Kelly, will provide you with instructions on how to reach Nova from your base at the Innovation Academy. You can read more about how to access Nova here.

Fostering Innovation Thinking

Participants will learn the basics of innovation with a focus on how to foster innovation thinking and critical thinking among students. The session will include an introduction to innovation thinking inclusive of practical examples and good practices, tips and tools for teaching innovation.

The session will include problem-based activities with the aim of identifying the challenges and potential solution in the implementation of global, interdisciplinary, technology driven internships.

Tuesday’s Multiplier Event centres on a design day for UCD Greenacre, an experiential learning space, and includes participants from enterprise, policy and education. The event will start at 12:30 with a site tour to UCD Greenacre, returning at 1:15pm approx for lunch in the O’Brien Centre for Science before the 2pm start.
UCD Innovation Academy is excited to merge the GI Teams Multiplier Event with their Design Day for UCD Greenacre, an exciting new experiential sustainability initiative you can read more about here. You will join over 50 participants from enterprise, policy, and higher education who have currently confirmed their attendance. Among the themes explored during the Design Day will be those relevant to Global Innovation Teams, including using Living Labs such as UCD Greenacre as a new approach for students seeking to gain work experience and engage with enterprise.
