MSc. Andrea Curley spent five years working as a software developer in Ericsson’s before taking up the post of lecturer in the School of Computer Science in 2005.
Along with lecturing, Andrea has been Programme Chairperson for a number of postgraduate courses for over 10 years, including the MSc in Computer Science. In this time, she has been involved in the development of new postgraduate programmes such as Higher Diploma in the Fundamentals of Computing and a Master’s Qualifier programme. The MSc in Computer Science has evolved significantly in this time.

User Experience (UX) and Human Computer Interaction (HCI) have been primary areas of teaching and consequently of research. A specific area of interest at the moment is the area of dark patterns as part of Andrea’s involvement with the Ethics4EU project.
Teaching and learning is the other main area of research. Andrea was involved in the RAFT project 2013-2014 which was a project across DIT to create an online resource of best-practice assessment and feedback mechanisms.
