A standout moment was Prof. Graham Wynn\u2019s keynote speech, the Northumbria University&#8217;s Pro-Vice Chancellor for Education. He discussed the integration of student talent management with Northumbria\u2019s education strategy.<\/p>\n<p>According to the Pro-Vice Chancellor, \u201cUNN has a responsibility towards the future students in the Northumbria region, those who chose to stay in the region for their studies. The focus was on enhancing researcher development and fostering an inclusive academic environment. Key sessions included a deliverable development session, a workshop on the creation of digital innovation ethics case studies, and activities on the Future of Higher Education through Design Futures.<br \/>\nThe afternoon was dedicated to supporting individual entrepreneurs within academia, with focus groups on workplace well-being and innovative potential. The day wrapped up with a plenary session summarizing key insights.\u00a0\t\t<\/p>\n<h3> Innovation and Collaboration at Newcastle Racecourse <\/h3>\n<p>\t\tThe highlight of Day 3 was the Innovation Festival Daily Dash, \u201cStrive for Five,\u201d led by David Parks ,founder and Director of SkillMill.<br \/>\nParticipants engaged in a design sprint focused on the United Nations\u2019 World Clean Up Day, generating creative solutions and actionable plans. Morning sessions included focus groups on researcher development and interviews with individual entrepreneurs and academics.<br \/>\n\u00a0The Project Steering Committee reviewed progress and planned future activities, ensuring alignment with project goals.\u00a0\t\t<\/p>\n<h3>Building Social Capital and Cultural Exploration <\/h3>\n<p>\t\tThe final day was dedicated to building social capital and exploring Northumbria\u2019s rich cultural heritage. Attendees visited Lindisfarne and Bamburgh Castle, guided by Lundgren Tours, &#8211; a walking tour company owned by a graduate from UNN\u2019s Business School-\u00a0 and explored historic towns and popular film\/TV locations.<br \/>\nThe day also included a visit to Barter Books in Alnwick and a scenic view of Alnwick Castle. Additionally, a survey on respectful translation practices was conducted to improve communication strategies.<br \/>\nThe UK Sandpit event was a vibrant blend of learning, collaboration, and cultural exploration. It provided valuable insights and fostered a spirit of innovation and inclusivity.
